To Kruger National Park (Pafuri Gate)

This is a route from Madi a Thavha Mountain Lodge to Pafuri gate of the Kruger National park. The route leads through rural Venda villages and the magnificent nature of Northern Limpopo with its indigenous vegetation. Following this route, it will take about 5 hours to drive to Pafuri gate and to include some sightseeing while travelling. Travellers will enter the park in time and, from there, can drive to their overnight accommodation.

After going back to the N 1 the route goes North, in the direction of Witvlag, through forestry, macademia orchards and tribal land. The road passes the Tshivhase and Mukumbani tea plantations that were recently re-established, producing the Midi tea brand. This initiative provides work to two thousand people from the villages around the plantation. A perfect spot for a break are the Phipidi water falls whereafter the journey continues, passing Donald Fraser hospital, Khubvi, Woodcraft Tshandama and Mutale Art and Crafts Centre. Albert Munyai, a famous woodcarver and traditional healer stays close to the centre and it is worthwhile to visit him.
The road continues North in the direction of Thengwe and Moswodi. At the sign of Tshixwadza / Dalakhuredzi falls, turn left to Mufulwi village, where famous Venda potter and Rebecca Matibe can be visitied. At her homestead she can show how she produces her pots. After this experience the traveller follows the main road North, an area full of baobab trees. Before entering the Kruger National Park at Pafuri gate, the Big Tree near Sagole Spa can be visited.
