Culturally inspired dolls

Nyalusa Vhukoni

This is a group of 15 Tsonga women in Bodwe village. They are specialised in making contemporary dolls inspired by Tsonga culture, fabrics and bead work. Besides dolls, they make beaded wall hangers, wooden spoons and clay objects, fired in a traditional way. The women are very artistic, which is also expressed in the way they dress. They are good drum players, available for music and dance performances in their village and for tourists who visit them. The group is a social network of women who support each other in their daily way of life.
